Prase divoké a jeho životní projevy v kulturní krajině = The wild boar and its bionomics signs in the cultural landscape
To chci
When briefly surveying Wild boar (Sus scrofa) numbers indirectly through annual harvests available from open game keeping reports, sooner or later a question is raised: Has the mammalian species reached the peak in its numbers in the Czech Republic? The answer would be that, due to enormous carrying capacity of the respective ecosystems, the critical limit has
not been met yet. The Wild boar perfectly uses environmental conditions having been formed by humans during recent decades. The main difficulties in its management by game keepers is that it was established when the Wild boar numbers were much lower in the Czech Republic and nobody was dealing with realistic setting the appropriate rules. In the Czech Republic, the Wild boar damages forests in many ways, but it also influences forest ecosystems in a positive manner. When assessing the Wild boar's impacts on agricultural lands, the negative affects clearly prevail. Moreover, game keeping planning does not include non-forest plots. Despite the above fact, the ungulate spends most of the year at non-forest sites. The mammalian species consumes everything what it finds, including birds and their clutches, amphibians, reptiles and mammalian young. It also is of veterinary and hygienic importance because it also feeds on carcasses or injured animals. Thus, it has become an important vector for pathogens and parasites, possessing risk to livestock keeping as well as to human health.
