In May 1999 the Institute of Musicology of the ASCR in co-operation with Forschungsinstitut für Musiktheater Universität Bayreuth (Research Institute for Music Theatre of the University of Bayreuth) in Thurnau in Germany and the Institute of Musicology of the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University under the patronage of the French Institute of Prague organised an international symposium of musicology called "French Opéra Comique and its Influence in Europe in the 19th Century". Academic Bulletin briefly described the symposium in the 6th issue. Based on reactions of foreign participants, the organisers did a great job and the event was highly appreciated.
